The Atrium

The most
stunning feature on the modern cruise ships today are the towering atriums.
Aurora’s Atrium is quite different from that of her sister Oriana, which
has a modern sculptured Atrium, whereas Aurora’s Atrium is classical in
style with massive square pillars rising up four decks and sweeping staircase,
and a four level waterfall, which cascades down into a pool located below the
stairs. In front of the waterfall is a jade coloured sculpture of Aurora and
child. Aft of the Atrium on Formosa Deck is the reception desk. Forward on
starboard side are two desks, the cruise booking desk and the Portunus Club
desk. Why is there a Portunus desk? Don’t as me, the Portunus attendant
was frankly uninterested in what she was doing and most uncooperative, and
frankly she was of no use whatsoever! The booking desk is kept busy with
bookings for future P&O cruises. Bookings made onboard can be transferred
to the passenger’s travel agent. Portside of the stars is the flower
desk. Passengers can choose from a vast variety of arrangements from a book on
the desk. However, on Oriana last year, the flower shop was manned twice a day,
but now it is fill in a order form and drop it in a box, yet another Carnival
cut, which is one of many! All P&O promo material, including their video,
it clearly states that the reception is open 24 hours. Don’t believe it,
it only operates between 0630 to 2100, and that is not 24 hours!
