MV Arion

The charming and yacht-like MV Arion

This photograph was taken in 2002 – Today she has an enclosed tender - see the image at the bottom of the page

The delightfully intimate MV Arion has a yacht-like ambience that has a much loved style, charm and grace that can only be found on ships of her size. Recently this fine classic ship has been comprehensively been refurbished and thus the Arion is able to offer her guests a genuinely memorable cruising experience combined with” Classic International Cruises” renowned service, which is simply second to none!

Here we see her as the delightful Yugoslavian cruise ship MS Istra

This amazing 1965 built Yugoslavian ship was built as the modern MS Istra accommodating, 165 First and 52 Tourist Class passengers in considerable style and comfort! She was sold and operated by the Russian Goring Shipping Company until 1999, but due to financial difficulties the ship was offered at auction.

She was obtained at auction and taken to Lisbon. The next year – 2000, the ship underwent a total reconstruction and refit costing US$15 million dollars. Her superb new interiors were designed and decorated by Arminio Lozzi and George Potamianos who were able to create a delightfully subtle atmosphere of light blending and soft colours throughout the ships new public venues and passenger cabins. She was renamed MV Arion and came under the Arcalia Shipping management in 2000, the ship has been sailing since then around the globe operated by Classic International Cruises.

A cruise on board Arion is the ideal choice for passengers wishing to visit cosy harbours and ports of call, ports that larger vessels are not able to access. After a perfect day ashore or simply relaxing on deck, you will be able to enjoy an after dinner drink in one of Arion's intimate lounges before taking in the show or enjoying the night sky from the open deck. One of the author’s great love about this fine small ship is the intimacy, and the crew will very soon know you by name, and also the things you like to drink and eat!

Come aboard the Arion or one of the other CIC ships soon and enjoy a true Classic Ocean Voyage!
