One of the most magnificent modern cruise ships in the world the new MV Celebrity Solstice

Provided by Meyer Werft

Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Solstice is the first of a series of five revolutionary ships known as the “Post-Panmax Class” to be built at the Meyer Werft Ship Yards in Germany. Each year until 2012 a new ship will added to the fleet. At 122,000-tons, the Celebrity Solstice is the largest ship ever built for Celebrity Cruises, with another four to follow.

General Information and Specifications: She entered service in October 2008 and operates the ever popular Florida, Caribbean regions. She accommodates 2,850 passengers, which for her size is a low number. She is 314,80m long and has a beam of 36,80m. There are 12 passenger decks: 12, and she operated at an average cruising speed of 24 knots. Her total installed power is 91.364 kW, having the famed - Azipods drives all built by Meyer Werft - Germany in Yard no 675. She is registered in Valletta Malta.

To date have now completed my page on her and a link is located below. However, below the next photograph there are three links to the following sites: 1. Andreas Depping photographs of her being built. 2. Celebrities own photo catalogue. And 3. Famed maritime historian and author Peter Knego’s detailed review of the ship, complete with many fine images.
