The Golden Princess is second of three Grand Class ships built, the first was the Grand Princess, which was followed by the Golden Princess and the third was the Star Princess. However, a further six ships were built based on the Grand Class, but were given different Class names as they varied slightly in design!

The Golden Princess Story:

There is no doubt that the 108,865 ton MV Golden Princess is an elegant and a fashionable cruise ship for the modern area! And as we know, she will be spending far more time sailing from Australian ports together with her sisters the Emerald and the Diamond Princess together with the smaller trio, the Dawn, Sea and Sun Princess all will sail to many of your favourite ports in the South Pacific, New Zealand, Asia, as well as the United States and the ever popular annual Around the World voyages! Indeed Australian cruising has grown into one of the largest and the most loved means of taking a vacation, and we may ask, why has this come about? Well let me tell you!

A holiday on a cruise ship is one of the most inclusive vacations you can get, for in reality, everything is paid for, your travel to all kinds of amazing destinations, tour accommodation of choice, all your meals are fully paid for, as is a host of entertainment in the Multi level Princess Theatre, or in one of the other Showrooms on board! Yes there is a Grand casino, a Night Club and a Disco and watch movies on a huge Screen at “Movie Under the Stars” where you sit comfortably with a blanket that is supplies as well as free popcorn. Indeed this is cruising at its best when you sail on the Golden Princess or any of her sisters!

Pair all this with impeccable service with gourmet chefs and the most luxurious dining atmosphere, and you'll be able to appreciate the calibre of the dining on the Golden Princess! Traditional dining options are served at the same time each day in the Canaletto Dining Room located aft on Fiesta Deck 6. If you'd rather eat at your whim, the Anytime Dining options are served at the Bernini Dining Room amidships on the Plaza Deck 5 or the Donatello Dining Room on Fiesta Deck 6.

This is the amidships, located aft of the Grand Atrium Benini Dining Room on Plaza Deck 5

Directly above it, on Fiesta Deck 6 is the identically furnished Donatello Dining Room

The Canaletto Dining Room is located aft on Fiesta Deck 6 and it offers first and second sittings in the evening

For those who prefer further dinning choices, believe me there are many more to choose from! Why not try the Crown Grill, located forward of the Atrium on Fiesta Deck 6, and it serves great Surf and Turf, with a variety of Steaks as well as Seafood’s.

The magnificent Crown Grill a feast to our eyes and our taste buds awaits!!

If you would like to step out for an Italian meal be it for lunch or a fine evening meal head to Sabatini's Italian Restaurant! If you want a snack or something a little different, check out all the casual dining options!

Entertainment on Golden Princess:

Get ready for a night of amazing theatrical productions, lounge acts, movies and more, as the Golden Princess has three theatre venues, all with great acoustics and stellar acts! Far forward of the ship is the two level Princess Theatre for excellent production shows and other guest stars, then amidships on Promenade Deck 7 is the Explorers Lounge that features some of the finest bands and artists around, and is one of the ships best known dance venues. Then as we head aft on this deck there is the spacious Vista Lounge being the second show lounge on board, where well known Guest artists perform as well as many other events take place day and night. There is always something happening here!

Great shows, but this venue is also uses as the indoor Cinema

Comfortable seating and good legroom in the theatre

On Promenade Deck 7, just aft of the Princess Theatre upper Level was the Grand Casino for those who like to have a flutter, or a real gamble!

The Explorers Lounge offers, anything from Bingo in the afternoon to an amazing Guest artist or group playing at night!

Above & below: This is an amazing venue, for at night it becomes an alive nightclub and

later a wild Disco for those who can make it into the early hours! But, for me personally

I spend a great deal of time here during the day, being well over 70, as I love to read

and during the day it is very quiet and peaceful, thus the perfect place to read!

Other Bars and Lounges:

If you are in the mood for something a little cosier, head to one of the bars and lounges and enjoy a cocktail! There is the maritime inspired Wheelhouse Bar, the delightful Promenade Lounge and Bar, and the warm and amazing Players Cigar Bar where you can actually enjoy a great cigar and even better company!

The delightful Wheelhouse Bar which contain a great deal of maritime memorabilia

This Lounge is located on the starboard side on the top level of the Atrium on Promenade Deck 7

The intimate and the only indoor space where you can light up a cigar, with a fine cognac or a whisky perhaps

There is no doubt that this ship has given countless passengers a wonderful ocean going vacation, for I have received many excellent reviews. Yes I have read some bad ones, but they are always are located on a certain extremely negative website, which seems to specialise in whinges, who do nothing but complain about everything. They book the cheapest inside cabin below, but expect accommodation of a deluxe suite! Because their cabin is not what they expected, everything else will be horrid!

Please Note: A Deck Plan and accommodations details are located on Page Two and there you will find a description of the various cabins, mini-suites and suites that are available on the Golden Princess.
