P&O Cruises UK
MV Artemis

Artemis,
along with other members of the UK
fleet offer regular grand itineraries to the far reaches of the globe, each a
lifetime ocean-going adventure. These grand voyages visit the most fascinating
ports of call always offering something new and exciting! Artemis usually
departs Southampton in December and will return to the UK around
March. Australian’s and New Zealander’s tend to opt for a
fly/cruise and join her at one point and cruise to another and return by either
by air, or she may call on Australia and New Zealand as she occasionally does.
Thus, there are options aplenty!
The ship
Artemis was built for P&O
Princess Cruises as the Royal Princess, commencing on her first cruise in
November 1984. After a successful time as a Princess ship, Carnival Corporation
transferred this lovely ship to the P&O Cruises (UK) fleet in
2005. Except for the annual World Cruise Artemis is based in Southampton
catering to the British cruise market. Other P&O UK ships are: Oriana
69,153 tons, Aurora 76,000 tons, Oceana (ex
Ocean Princess) 77,000 tons, and the magnificent new 83,000 ton Arcadia.
Artemis is an attractive ship,
with contemporary styling and a short raked bow. She was built as a high
quality ship and has many exemplary features. She has vast deck space and a
traditional wraparound promenade deck.
Her interiors are well designed,
although the ships layout is somewhat unconventional. Her public rooms are
spacious and beautifully appointed. She has spacious passageways for a ship and
her staircases are simply imposing. Artemis is contemporary without being
garish as many ships tend to be these days.
Oriana and Aurora are the two
traditional P&O ships and both feature the Crow’s Nest forward atop
the superstructure, affording views of the bow. However, Artemis has a lounge
set in the funnel base, offering spectacular views of the aft decks and the
ships wake.
Artemis, like other P&O
Cruises UK ships, will provide an excellent cruise vacation, packed with all
the traditional features P&O is famous for.

We have been told by a passenger, that Artemis
offers one of the warmest welcomes and most intimate atmospheres afloat! She is
slightly smaller than the more traditional Oriana and Aurora, allowing her
access to waters not charted by larger ships. Equipped with every modern
facility, Artemis combines the camaraderie of the traditional British cruise
experience with every comfort imaginable, making her the perfect cruise ship,
providing her passengers the authentic cruise holiday.
