Theatre Royal

Oriana has a state of the art theatre. A soon as you enter it is impressive and would compete with just about any land based theatre, Seating is comfortable, however, air-conditioning in the venue is poor, making it a warm room, especially o \n those many formal nights. When built, much fuss was made by P&O that each seat had its own air-conditioning vents, however, the amount of air that comes from the is minimal and does not seem to be forced in any way.

Theatre Royal features Broadway style productions, with titles such as, “No Business like show business” - “Gold Discs and Platform Shoes” – “Rave On” – “Good Old Bad Old Days” – “Follies” – Fosse” and “Rocking all over the world.” Music was provided by the excellent “Keith Trewhitt Orchestra.

Other shows in Theatre Royal range from stage plays, such as “Bedtime Manners,” and performances by the guest artists, such as musicians, vocalists, comedians and magicians who join the ship on various sectors.

During our 42 voyage there were also nine classical artists. These included the brilliant classical guitarists, Sam Piha and Martin Vishnick, two fine pianists Allan Schiller and David McArthur and the superb “Classical Connections,” a five member Opera Company.
